Train for capability
Not just appearance
As a personal trainer. One of the biggest mistakes I see is people limiting themselves to a single style of training. Fitness isn't one dimensional. It's a spectrum.
If your goal is overall strength, health, and longevity, Don't train like a bodybuilder.
Train like an athlete.
Don't focus solely on aesthetics. Focus on performance. You should be able to - squat with strength, jump with power, run uphill and downhill with confidence. Lift heavy loads safely, move freely through a full range of motion, maintain mobility, flexibility, and endurance.
Looking fit is great. Being capable is even better.
Many people spend years building a physique that looks impressive in the mirror, but struggles when faced with real world physical demands.
Think of it this way. A Ferrari is designed to perform. If it looks like a Ferrari but moved like a Maruti 800, nobody would be impressed. The same principle applies to fitness. Your physique should be a byproduct of what your body can do, not the only goal.
Build a body that doesn't look aesthetic. Build one that performs like an athlete.
